This is our house. Well, actually, it's our apartment. The building was built in the mid 1800's (1849?) as the Phillip Scheu brewery. At that time, it had only 3 floors with an entrance on Washington Street. The huge cavernous basement, where the vats were, is still there, but all of the cool "stuff" has been removed. The tunnels that make up the basement extend in all direction but some are collapsed or have been filled in through the coal shutes.

Sometime near the turn of the century, the tower was built and the building became a hotel with its main entrance on High Street. What is now the penthouse, was the hotel's ball room/restaurant.

Our Home

This is how the building was (circa 1900) as the German-American Brewing Company. The closest structure held the "German Beer Gardens" on the 4th floor roof. I have been told that it was an extremely popular summer hang-out with an expansive garden and of course BEER. The more distant structure was drastically altered into our apartment building as it is today.
I have taken a photo from a similar angle for a side-by-side comparison (see bottom of page).

Buffalo is a beautiful city. (That's our secret.)As you can see it's very green. Looking north you can see the Delaware district. Filled with old mansions, beautiful houses, and, what used to be, skyscrapers. The tall, blue apartment building here, is a more recent addition to the skyline. We compete with "big blue's" tenants in what we call, The Great Rooftop Extravaganza, inwhich we vie for "The Most Inappropriate Roof-Top Decor Award". The giant inflatable tire we stole from Delta Sonic is sure to win this year.
North View

Looking south, you can see all of downtown. As safe and as fun as it is, only a handfull of hearty souls have re-settled the area. The lake is barely visable in this photo but if you look between the buildings you can just make out the sand dunes and cliffs of the wonderful beaches that are just south of the city.
South View
Here is a nice shot of the harbour. You can see a red "Laker", that is 2 - 3 blocks long, pulling into the channel. You can also see the hills of the southern tier on the far side of the lake. The farthest you can see from the penthouse is Sturgeon Point, aprox 25 miles away, a popular beach and fishing area.
Looking South-East towards the Boston Hills, you can see the Basillica in Lackawana and, if you look at the top of the big dark smoke stack, you can see Rich Stadium just off to the right. The home of the bills is some 15 or 20 miles away from the penthouse.
