This recently renovated impressive hall of the museum, which was originally intended by the architects to represent a palace courtyard within the building, is typical of the style of Baroque architecture. The paintings that can be seen here were selected from the Italian Baroque material of the Old Gallery. At present the hall is designed to evoke the former atmosphere of aristocratic collections, which were arranged in a somewhat cramped manner. The size of the statues displayed in the middle of the hall renders dynamism to the spatial organisation.
